Captain Jack: Tell me about Phoenix Raine.
Phoenix Raine: I grew up in a very small town in the Jackson, Mississippi area. So, from a very young age, I struggled with my childhood. I had a hard home life. I had a very strong relationship with my mother. I got into a lot of trouble in my younger years. I’ll say it ran through the blood. I was supposed to be the generational curse breaker but we all had our struggles. I had a rough patch. I moved away to South Florida in my junior year in high school. I lived in Miami but I came from a very small town, low income household. My uncle took me in and I went to a whole different lifestyle and I went a little wild. I got my first car, multiple cars. I crashed a lot of those, my poor uncle! (laughs) I loved him so much and he wanted to keep me out of that childhood that I was raised in. I did end up going to college back in my hometown. I did threatre art and communication but, at some point, my life took a very dark turn. I got hooked on drugs pretty bad, got into a bad lifestyle…I let my trauma catch up to me. 5 years ago, May, 2018, I got sober from meth amphetamines. I’m 5 years clean and I just shifted things, got away from the small town and started over. I got married and tried to do the whole housewife thing and I found myself in a violent domestic marriage so I had to leave. That’s pretty much a fast paced summary of where I am right now. In January, I left my husband, packed up my stuff and my basset hound and I started chasing my dreams. I’m a very sexual human. I love sex, I love film, I love acting. I’m 30 years old, I’ve seen a lot, I’ve done a lot. I did do 3 years in the career of my dreams and decided to take a break from that as well.
CJ: What was your dream?
Phoenix: I was a drug and alcohol counselor. I worked in a treatment center for 3 years but my mental health started to get the best of me. Something unlocked inside me and Phoenix was born.
